I was watching CBC back in May, when they were airing live coverage of a parade for WWII Canadian veterans in Wageningen, The Netherlands. I had was working with the TV on at the time, but I ended up watching the whole parade from start to fininsh. It really made me feel proud to see the response for our vets in a different country.
The amount of people in that small city, who had come to wave and cheer for Canadian veterans was incredible. It made me think of how important it is to recognize these brave men and women who fought for our country.
Yesterday I was in a shopping mall in Toronto. I saw several elderly vets walking around asking for donations to buy a Rememberance Day poppy. It was cool to see kids buying them too.
On that note, buy a poppy. If it falls off, or you lose it, buy another one. Or better yet, buy a pile of them.
Rememberance Day is November 11.
