Gay Lea - cool campaign, wrong country
This is the only online example of the new billboards popping up around Toronto I could find promoting Gay Lea. The one here is fine, in fact it's rather creative. But the billboards I keep seeing around Toronto feature a fictitious, annoying law firm ad, spread with butter.
The thing is, it's illegal for law firms to advertise on billboards in Ontario, and possibly Canada. So, the signs don't really make much sense here. What it tells me is that the people at Gay Lea didn't do their research on the Canadian market - and that bugs me. Do your darn research people! How can you sell something to someone, if you don't understand who they are?
If you take a drive to the states, you'll see a million different law firms advertised on billboards. You often see the signs before the Welcome to Our State sign. That's why America's favourite pasttime has changed over the years from baseball, to suing people.
Since I'm rambling about lawyers. Have you flipped over your Toronto yellow pages lately?
There is an ad for Bergel & Edson personal injury lawyers. Read the testimonial in the green box, it's shocking!
It reads: "I slipped and fell while visiting my father's house. Six law firms I consulted refused to take my case. Hy Bergel not only took my case, he settled it for $150,000."
Who the hell sues their father???!!!!
Dave
